Song is the common voice of praise in the Christian church. While the Chancel Choir sings anthems in worship on behalf of the congregation, its major role is to enable the great choir - the congregation - to lift up its voice in praise of God. The choir leads worship at the 11:15 a.m. Worship and occasionally at the 9:45 a.m. Worship. No audition is required to participate in the 100-member Chancel Choir, but thorough instruction in choral singing and musical instruction enables participation of all who wish to be involved in the musical leadership of worship. The Chancel Choir also plans mission tours (nationally and abroad) and provides many opportunities for fellowship among its members. Additionally the Chancel Choir presents an annual performance of Handel's Messiah (parts I and II), a tradition for the Marietta community, the second weekend in December. The Chancel Choir also presents a major work in worship during Lent. |

Santa Barbara Quire of Voyces The Santa Barbara Quire of Voyces was founded in 1993, The annually auditioned volunteer group, made up of professional singers from the Central coast area, is dedicated to the highest quality performances of the sacred choral music of the Renaissance and 20th Century, in historic settings. It gives ten concerts annually, and has been featured several times on The First Art, a production of Chorus America on National Public Radio, as well as on Radio KDB 93.7 and KEYT-TV of Santa Barbara. The ensemble currently has many CD recordings available: the Latin Mass, the Rachmaninov 'Vespers', Illuminations, English Cathedral Music, and Noel. The Quire of Voyces is host to a major annual education and outreach event for high school choruses from throughout California. |
