BWV001 Cantata: Wie schön leuchet der Morgenstern!

Johann Sebastian Bach composed the Cantata BWV 1 Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern (How brightly shines the morning star), in 1725 in Leipzig for the feast of the Annunciation. It was first performed on 25 March 1725. The main theme is the chorale based on the hymn "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern" (1599) by Philipp Nicolai.

The cantata scored for soprano, tenor, and bass soloists, a four-part choir, and and orchestra.
